BHU Students file complaint against monologue staged at college cultural fest

A Marathi play titled “Me Nathuram Godse Boltoy (I, Nathuram Godse Speaking)" was staged on Thursday at a three-day-long cultural festival organised by the Faculty of Arts at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Students have written to the police against the organiser of the play. According to the students the monologue written by Pradeep Dalvi, is based on the book "May It Please Your Honour" by Nathuram Godse showed him as a "hero".

They even mentioned in the complaint that Mahatma Gandhi has been shown in poor light and his assassination has been justified.

The complaint has been filled at the Lanka Police Station, Varanasi. According to the complain the participants have mocked the principles of truth and non-violence and held Gandhi responsible for the country's problems, including the Partition in 1947.

The public relations officer of BHU, Rajesh Singh said, “The university administration is inquiring into the incident and would take the necessary action.”
