Muzaffarnagar: 26 sector magistrates absent from duty; salary to be deducted

About 26 sector magistrates deputed to revise the voter list were found absent from their duty during a surprise check in Muzaffarnagar on 25 October.
District election officer DK Singh said their one-day salary will be deducted. The sector magistrates were deputed to revise the voter list and check booth-level officers in every polling booth in six Assembly constituencies in the district, Singh said.
It was found that 116 sector magistrates were found absent from work on 8 October to 9 October in the district, he added.
On the Election Commission's directive, a revision of the voter list has started in every Assembly constituency for preparation of the upcoming Assembly polls of 2017.
