Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh escaped unhurt on 24 October after militants reportedly opened fire at Manipur's Ukhrul helipad.

The militants opened fire as soon as Ibobi stepped out of his helipad. The attack occurred despite the tight security in Manipur's Ukhrul ahead of Singh's visit to the district headquarters for inauguration of developmental projects.

A series of bomb blast took place late on 23 October, when two persons - suspected to be NSCN (IM) - hurled two hand grenades in Hundung area, injuring one jawan.

Reports suggest that the 04 Indian Reserve Batalian(IRB) jawans were deployed in the area a week ahead of the Chief Minister's visit.
