In a major breakthrough, a 31-year-old man with alleged ISIS links was arrested today by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
According to ANI, the accused is a resident of Parbhani district of Maharashtra, and he was in touch with another 'wanted' man, whose name is believed to be Farooque. Farooque is based in Syria and was trying to influence the youth through social media, using different handles and profile IDs
In January 2016, the ATS along with National Investigation Agency (NIA) team had arrested a Mumbai youth for his involvement with the banned terrorist organisation. The 33-year-old man had been unemployed since October 2015 and spent most of his time on the internet, combing through IS propaganda material.
