Maharashtra: Woman in Amboli gangraped; police arrest 7 of 8 accussed

Seven people have been arrested by the police for the alleged gang-rape of a 28-year old woman in Amboli, Maharashtra, on 31 October. According to reports, the victim was later taken to a hospital where her condition is now stable.

According to Hindustan Times, Ashok Dudhe, the spokesperson for Mumbai police, confirmed that a case under section 376D of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for gang-rape had been filed and seven of the eight accused have been arrested.

The woman - along with her husband - had gone looking for a property in Amboli where the accused sent her husband out for some work and later gangraped her, reports HT.

According to reports, a local lady was helping the couple to look for property and they had stayed back at her place on the night of 31 October.

One of the accused has a criminal record, according to reports.
