Maharashtra: Horrifying! Aurangabad woman escapes rape attempt by claiming herself to be HIV+

A 29-year-old widow woman escaped a rape attempt by falsely claiming of herself being HIV positive. The incident took place at Rajnagar in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district on March 25.

The man, who was trying to sexually assault her was out accused in a murder case and was out on bail at the time of the incident. The accused identified as 22-year-old Kishore Vilas Avhad, he was arrested by the police a few days ago. He was jailed in his father’s murder case.


The woman of a 6-year-old girl was standing outside the Shahnoormiya dargah asking for a lift on March 25 night. When Avhad was passing by on his motorcycle and offered to drop the duo home. However, he took them to near nullah at Rajnagar and attempted to rape the woman at knifepoint.

However, the woman’s presence of mind saved her from sexual assault as she claimed to be HIV positive. Fearing he would be infected, the man left the spot.

The woman reported the matter to the police and case of kidnapping and molestation, along with sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, was registered against Avhad. He was identified on the basis of sketch, marks and tattoos on his hand, as described by the woman.
