As actor turned politician Kamal Haasan celebrates one year of his party- Makkal Needhi Maiam, he has expressed that his party would emerge victorious amidst the political drama playing out by two national party’s.

In an event in Tirunelveli, Haasan took jibe at the ruling BJP and denied all allegations about his association with the latter, saying, “I am not BJP's B Team, but Tamil Nadu's A team. We shall win not just 40 seats but 60.”

Haasan, while elaborating about the second year of his party and its goals for the upcoming election, also explained as to why he does not have much reliance upon the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ which has recently stitched more than 7 party’s for the polls.

Enumerating about his party’s achievements and stating that MNM has evolved over time, Haasan said, “We are clean and honest, and we shall remain so. Let's uproot casteism and nurture equality together. Let's teach this generation what democracy actually stands for.”

As Congress announced alliance with DMK and other regional party’s for the upcoming 2019 polls, the ‘Grand Alliance’ marked its presence in Tamil Nadu but whether it can showcase a tough fight against the BJP and become a viable alternative is a question that remains to be answered.

Haasan said that the Grand Alliance will soon fall apart, adding that “The MNM will provide a voice that at least demands a change of Prime Minister. As for the opposition's Mahagathbandhan against the BJP, it will untwine. They will soon start switching sides and walking out of the alliance.”
