The infamous case of Love-Jihad in Kerala, where Hadiya’s father KM Ashokan, the girl who was detained by the NIA, has joined the BJP.

Ashokan, who had joined the BJP last week has alleged the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) for playing ‘divisive politics’ over Sabarimala issue. The issue f Love-Jihad had taken a center stage in the Indian politics when National Investigation Agency alleged that the girl was being trained by the ISIS.

Although, Hadiya’s father told the press that earlier he supported the CPM and their principles but due to their “dirty politics” over Sabarimala Temple issue, he has chosen to join the Bhartiya Janta Party.

Hadiya, who was said to be a victim of “indoctrination and psychological kidnapping,” was sent back to her parents by the Kerala High Court’s order and the court also held their marriage null and void in May 2017.

Although, in March 2018, the Supreme Court had turned down the Kerala High Court’s order and held that Hadiya has all her liberty to marry anyone she wants as the NIA, in its charge sheet has said that “there is only Love in her case and no Jihad.”

The apex court said in its verdict that “We are not concerned with the NIA probe. You can probe anything, but not marital status,” adding that “she told us in court she is married...we can't question the legitimacy of her marriage.”
