Kota: Man arrested for allegedly raping 4-year-old girl

A four-year-old was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old youth in Vigyan Nagar area of Kota city, following which he was arrested, police said on 2 October.

The accused, Dolat Suman, was arrested yesterday and will soon be produced before the court.

"The victim's family and the accused share rented rooms in a same building in Vigyan Nagar area. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the accused sneaked into the girl's room while she was sleeping alone.

"Her mother had gone out to fetch her sister from school and her father was away at work," Circle In Charge (CI) of Vigyan Nagar Police Station, Jai Prakesh Beniwal, said.

On a complaint by the girl's parents, a case against Dolat Suman, a resident of Khadipur village in Madhya Pradesh was lodged for allegedly raping the four-year-old girl, he said.

The victim complained of stomach ache in the evening following which her parents took her to a nearby dispensary where the nursing staff raised alarm about the crime, he said.

A case under Section 376 of the IPC and under sections of POSCO Act was lodged against the accused, the CI said. The minor girl belonged to the Gujjar community.
