The high voltage drama of Karnataka government formation will get a new turn today. As it is a fate-day of the newly elected CM BS Yeddyurappa who sworn in as CM of the Karnataka after Governor Vajubhai Vala invited BJP to form its government and prove its majority within 15 days in Assembly. Well, Supreme will resume the hearing on the Congress petition today. The top court has directed that letters sent by BJP showcasing its majority to Governor Vajubhai Vala for government formation be placed before it.

The Congress on Thursday moved to Supreme Court challenging Governor Vala invitation to BJP and not to JDS's HD Kumaraswamy and to put stay on BS Yeddyurappa's oath ceremony as chief minister of Karnataka. The top court on Thursday rejected the plea to put stay on the Governor's decision.

The Congress MLAs who were being shifted to Hyderabad have arrived at Park Hyatt hotel for their stay. Security has been tightened in and around the area, says reports. According to reports, several Congress MLAs moved out of Eagleton resort and Shangri-La hotel in Bengaluru and left for Puducherry, while a few JDS MLAs have been shipped off to Cochin and Hyderabad.

BS Yeddyurappa has been sworn-in as the chief minister of Karnataka after the Supreme Court refused to stay Governor's decision. However, the top court has kept it subject to the case outcome. Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath of office and secrecy to Yeddyurappa at the Raj Bhavan amid tight security. The Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) leaders, however, protested against the swearing-in of Yeddyurappa outside Vidhan Sabha and termed the governor's decision "unconstitutional".

"Constitutionally, we (JD(S) and Congress) should have been given the chance to form the government as we together have the majority in the Assembly. The governor's decision to invite the BJP to form the government is against the Constitution," state unit Congress chief G Parameshwara told reporters in Bengaluru.
