Former president Dr Abdul Kalam passes away in Shillong hospital

> APJ Abdul Kalam was speaking at a function at IIM, Shillong when he collapsed due a cardiac arrest at around 7 pm today.

> He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he breathed his last. Official sources have confirmed that he has been put on the ventilator in the ICU.

> An army doctor had been called to the Bethany Hospital, Shillong, for the former president.

> His death was confirmed at around 9 pm.

> 83-year-old Kalam had served as the 11th President of India.
