J-K: SHO allegedly inserted bottle, chilly powder in woman's private parts, probe ordered

In a horrific incident, a woman has alleged that she was ruthlessly assaulted by a station house officer, who inserted beer bottle and chilly powder in her private parts in Kanachak area of Jammu.

The 25-year-old victim was confined and tortured by SHO Rakesh Sharma for a week around 15 days ago, reported CNN News 18.

Reportedly, the victim has alleged that the SHO forcibly removed her clothes and sexually assaulted her.

However, Rakesh said that the assertions made by the woman are false. According to him, the woman had blamed a couple (under whom she was worked as a domestic help) of falsely accusing her of theft when she left her job.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh has asked state government to look into the matter.

Speaking to CNN-News18, J-K health minister Bali Bhagat also said, “If the police have indulged in any kind of brutality, the government will take strict action. Parties in the state are using her for political gains…. The government is looking into the matter.”

The victim's lawyer has said that the horrible act of assault is similar to the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape case that has shocked the whole country.
