J&K: Ceasefire violation in Poonch by Pakistanti troops; India retaliates

Pakistani troops on 19 October violated the ceasefire in Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir and resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian posts along the the Line of Control (LoC).

Following the ceasefire violation, the Indian security forces also retaliated with full vigour to Pakistan's heavy firing. Reports say that the firing is still on.

There have been frequent reports of ceasefire violation ever since the Indian security forces carried out the surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the intervening night of 28 and 29 September.

On 8 October, Pakistani troops had fired on forward Indian posts along Mendhar-Krishnagati sector in Poonch district resulting in injuries to one jawan.

On 5 October, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire thrice and resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling targeting several Indian posts and civilian areas in three sectors of Poonch and Rajouri districts.

Pakistani troops had on 4 October targeted 10 forward areas with mortar shelling and firing with five ceasefire violations on Indian posts and civilian areas along LoC in four areas of Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri districts.
