Intelligence agencies issue terror warnings to 24 airports in 4 states, and Delhi

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 7 February 2017, 1:21 IST

A terror warning has been issued in four states and the National Capital, by intelligence agencies. Detailed warnings have been sent out to 24 airports in four cities, and authorities have said that high-security measures are being put in place to tackle any possible impending situation.

Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat -- all border states -- have, like Delhi been marked for vigil, reports the Times of India. Police chiefs in every state have received intimations from the Civil Aviation Security Bureau. The Bureau has also reached out to the CISF or paramilitary force which guards airports.

All state-run and private airlines have also been issued alerts.

While high security is the norm during festive season, agencies are worried there may be a retaliation for the surgical strikes along the LoC that took place on 29 September.
