Integrated Defence Staff celebrates 17th Raising Day

The Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) celebrated its 17th Raising Day on Sunday where Chief of the IDS Lieutenant General Satish Dua paid tributes to the fallen soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in the national capital.

The Chief of 'Integrated Defence Staff' to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) was appointed on October 01, 2001 and Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) came into existence by a government letter.

The decision was taken to fulfil the need for an institutional framework for higher management of defence forces.

Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff also functions as the principal arm and secretariat to the Chief of Staff Committee.

There have been recommendations from the IDS to procure military pieces of equipment in an integrated manner so that there is no duplication and saves money.
