Warning users of social media and digital world, Indian army urged people to use social media including WhatsApp safely as they are under target of Chinese hackers and Pakistan and they are trying to penetrate India’s digital world. Releasing a video on the official account of Indian Army, the Addition Directorate General of Public Interface (ADGPI) urged the users to use social media with caution and discreet.

“The Chinese use all kinds of platforms to penetrate your digital world. WhatsApp groups are a new way of hacking into your system. Chinese numbers starting with +86 barge into your groups and start extracting all the data,” The video tweeted by ADGPI said.

It also warned of fake news that is presented as real information. The Army urged users to remain watchful whether the group is being joined by the outsiders like if any one joining with a number starts with +86.

Warning of Pakistani trap, the video said “most Indians will not know this and land up calling the phishing number. But this is trap. To make it look authentic they have also put an Indian sounding name…..so don’t call any number that has 00-92 as their prefix. It is a Pakistani trick to extract your data and bank account information. Believe in evidence! Beware of such fake messages”.

The tweet in Hindi goes as saying “beware, be cautious and be safe.  Indian Army appreciates the appropriate and healthy use of social media. But on social media, fake information is being presented as truth. Be aware otherwise you can be deceived. Verify the information then believe it”.
