Taking a dig over Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue, the founder of Art of Living (AOL), Sri Sri Ravi Shankar earlier on Monday remark over Ram temple that India will turn into a Syria if the Ram temple issue is not resolved soon, during an interview with a news channel. The spiritual guru's remark has given rise to a political crisis, calling it 'provocative.

"If Ram Mandir issue is not solved, we will have a Syria in India," the spiritual guru told the news channel.

"Sri Sri Ravi Shankar should refrain from giving out such provocative statements," senior Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi said to media agency.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon also termed the spiritual guru's remarks sad. "I am sad to hear this comment from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji. I did not expect him to give a statement that could increase violence," said Memon.

Further raising a question behind Ravi Shankar's interventions, He added, "I would also very respectfully like to ask that the intervention you are doing, where were you from the past 25 years? He is coming out and talking about the issue just when the time when the Supreme Court is about to announce its decision.

On the other hand, Sandeep Dikshit, Congress leader stated the statement a good entertainment value.

A few days back, the AOL founder had courted controversy by saying that Muslims should gift the disputed land in Ayodhya to Hindus for building a Ram temple, reported The Times of India.

The AOL's statement came at the time when violent attacks on Syria have led to the killings of hundreds of innocent.
