Imran Khan thanks Navjot Singh Sidhu for coming to Pakistan for swear-in ceremony; calls him 'ambassador of peace'

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan today stepped into the row over Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu attending the oath-taking ceremony of him and hugging Pakistan Army chief, thanked him and called him an ambassador of peace'.

“I want to thank Sidhu for coming to Pak for my oath taking. He was an ambassador of peace&was given amazing love&affection by people of Pak. Those in India who targeted him are doing a great disservice to peace in the subcontinent - without peace, our people can't progress,” said Pak PM.


“To move forward Pakistan and India must dialogue and resolve their conflicts incl Kashmir: The best way to alleviate poverty and uplift the people of the subcontinent is to resolve our differences through dialogue and start trading,” tweets Pakistan's PM Imran Khan.

The tweet came in shortly after cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu defended his visit to Pakistan and a hug shared with the Pakistani army chief. He was criticised by his own boss Punjab CM Amarinder Singh he said, "I was criticised by the Captain, by top Congress leaders. It is not necessary that if the Captain has spoken against me, I should too."

"The Pak Army chief said they were making efforts to open a corridor from India's Dera Baba Nanak to the historic Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib. What followed was an emotional moment," said Sidhu.
