Hyderabad: Furious mob attacks police station after man dies over police inaction

A group of people on 3 August attacked a police station at Secunderabad city of Hyderabad over death of a man, who was earlier detained in connection with a scuffle.

Bannappa was taken to police station following the scuffle which took place during the local 'Bonalu' festival, a police official said, adding that he was later sent away.

The man, however, died on Tuesday, after which the residents of his locality damaged the Marredpally police station here alleging that police was responsible for his death.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said an investigation has been ordered into the incident.
