Hyderabad: 9-year-old girl dies after getting stuck between lift and door gap

A shocking incident was reported from the part of Hyderabad where a 9-year-old girl was crushed to death on Friday after getting stuck between the narrow space of lift and door. The accident took place around 12:30 pm when the girl was taking the lift up to her house on the third floor.

The girl named Lasya Yadav who hails from outskirts of the city shifted to Hastinapuram North Extension Colony a three stories building recently. While taking the lift her leg got stuck between the gap of lift doors and the duct and before she could pull out her let, someone, called the lift on the third floor due to which the lift started moving even when its outer grill was open.


As a result, her body got crushed between the two. Lasya’s father Chandrasekhar Yadav immediately called the lift maintenance staff and the ambulance. After two hours of struggle to rescue Lasya they rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced brought dead.

The case of accidental death has been registered, even president of state child rights association, P Achyuta Rao, expressed the grief over her death. He blamed society for using substandard elevators and not following the norms. He also demanded the municipal authorities permit only those builders who follow the norms and install a good lift.
