House gets washed away after heavy rainfall in Kerala

A horrifying video of a house getting collapsed due to incessant rainfall in Kerala has surfaced on the Internet. the incident took place in the Kottayam district.

The video was shared by news agency ANI along with a caption, “Kerala: A house got washed away by strong water currents of a river in Kottayam's Mundakayam yesterday following heavy rainfall.”

When the house was getting washed away by the strong water currents of a river, several people were standing on the road and witnessing the scary visual on Sunday (October 17).

Due to heavy rainfall in Kerala, the death toll due to rains, including landslides and flash floods has been increased to 22. While 13 dead bodies were recovered from the Kottayam district and 9 people were found dead in Idukki.

Amid bad weather conditions, a travel ban has also been imposed in the high range of the Idukki district. According to District Collector Sheeba George, two people are still missing in the area.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and discussed the current situation in the state in the wake of heavy rains and landslides.

He further expressed his deep condolences over the loss of lives due to rains and landslides in Kerala.

"It is saddening that some people have lost their lives due to heavy rains and landslides in Kerala. Condolences to the bereaved families," tweeted PM Narendra Modi.
