On 29 July, the Delhi High Court dismissed liquor baron Vijay Mallya's plea challenging summons issued in cheque-bouncing cases filed by the Delhi Airport operator - DIAL.

Mallya was not involved in the day-to-day affairs of Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) and cannot be held liable in several cheque-bouncing cases filed against him by Delhi airport operator DIAL, his counsel had told the Delhi High Court on 15 July.

The trial court had summoned the business tycoon as an accused following a complaint by Delhi International Airport Ltd, which operates the capital's IGI Airport, claiming that a cheque for Rs 1 crore issued by KFA in February 2012, was returned to them a month later containing the remarks "fund insufficient".

DIAL had filed four cases in June 2012 against Mallya over KFA's cheques totalling Rs 7.5 crore not being honoured.
