Gymnast Dipa Karmakar could get the Khel Ratna, India's highest sporting honour
According to an India Today report, Karmakar will receive the award from President Pranab Mukherjee on National Sports Day. Asian Games silver medallist Tintu Lukha was also being considered for the Khel Ratna.

Karmakar made history after she became the first Indian to qualify for the gymnastics event. She narrowly missed the bronze medal in the vault finals on 14 August.

Shooter Jitu Rai, who qualified for the 10m air pistol event and finished eighth, has also been recommended for the Khel Ratna.
