On Tuesday, at the Opposition leaders' joint press briefing at the Constitution Club in Delhi hosted by the Congress, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the Narendra Modi government, hailing demonetisation as the biggest scam the country has seen since independence.

Pointing out that with only three days to go till the 30 December deadline, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said the motive of demonetisation has completely failed.

Mamata Banerjee then took a jab at the Modi government saying that PM Modi's promises of 'Achhe din' has fallen flat on its face.

"Cashless ke naam pe Modi government baseless hogaya, total face less hogaya," the West Bengal Chief Minister said.

"They do whatever they feel like. Federal structure is totally destroyed. It is not emergency, it is super emergency," she added.

Banerjee alleged that the Centre's demonetisation move has sent the country 20 years back in time. "This is a fearless government, they do not care about anything," she said.

"If things remain unresolved even after 50 days, will PM Modi take responsibility to resign as PM of the country?" she demanded.
