Soon, Delhi University may scrap all subjective questions from its admission tests for postgraduate courses. The entrance tests might only consist of multiple-choice objective-type questions.

According to PTI, the varsity Vice Chancellor has constituted an 18-member standing committee, comprising deans of various faculties, which is deliberating upon replacing the subjective question papers with multiple-choice ones. The final decision will be taken by the VC, once the committee submits its recommendation.

The committee is also mulling over setting up of five test centres outside Delhi to help outstation candidates. Currently, all aspirants have to appear for the entrance tests in the national capital.

If approved, the test centres will likely be at Kolkata, Chennai, Jammu, Ahmedabad, and Nagpur.

The DU admission cycle is likely to begin in May. The varsity conducts a centralised online registration process with a common application form.

For post-graduate courses, most departments and faculties reserve 50 per cent of the seats for undergraduate students under direct admission. The remaining 50 per cent are filled by entrance tests, followed by interviews.

Around 8,000 students are expected to seek admission in postgraduate courses for the 2016-17 academic session. More than one lakh students had applied to for these courses last year.
