After a scuffle broke out between a bunch of Asaram Bapu's supporters and some policemen at the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi on Sunday night, the Delhi Police registered a case of rioting against them on 16 May.

Seven police personnel, including those from the para-military forces, were injured when the mob pelted stones and tried to storm the station last night.

The supporters were demanding Asaram's release when the scuffle broke out.

Asaram was arrested from his ashram at Indore in Madhya Pradesh and brought to Jodhpur on 1 September, 2013. He is lodged in the Jodhpur Central Jail since then.

A 16-year-old girl had lodged a police complaint accusing Asaram of sexually assaulting her at his ashram near Jodhpur.

Asaram's bail applications had earlier been rejected by the Rajasthan High Court and the Supreme Court.
