At least 81 Delhi-bound trains have been delayed, 21 rescheduled and three cancelled due to dense fog in the national capital on 7 December.

Eight international flights were delayed, three diverted and five domestic flights were also delayed due to poor visibility.

However, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) had yesterday announced its preparedness in tackling fog at the IGI airport.

According to media reports, three runways at the IGI Airport - 28, 29 and 11 - are certified for CAT III B operations, which would allow landing of the compliant aircraft with visibility as low as 50 metres, while an aircraft can take off with visibility of 125 metre.

The Met has predicted that New Delhi will continue to reel under dense fog this week.

Himgiri Express (26 hours), Amarnath Express (20 hours), Purbia Express (18 hours), Kaifiyat Express (19 hours), Avadh-Assam Express, Punjab Mail, Kota-Patna Express, Nauchandi Express, Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, Gareeb Rath, Mau-Anand Vihar Express, Triveni Express and many more have been delayed due to weather conditions.

Several trains including Sealdah Delhi Sampark Kranti Express, which passes through UP, were cancelled while over two dozen trains were either running late or very late. Road transportation has also been affected in most parts of the state especially in the morning and evening hours.
