In yet another horrendous incident of crime against women, a 23-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and then gangraped by three men in a moving car in Vasant Vihar, South Delhi, in the wee hours of 15 June.

According to the media reports, the culprits later abandoned her near Poorvi Marg.

A Hindustan Times report stated that the medical examination of the victim has confirmed rape. The police have arrested three people in connection with the case, who were later sent to judicial custody.

The rape victim had been returning to her home after watching a movie at PVR Priya when the incident occurred, said the police.

"In a statement, her friend said that they were walking towards Munirka at 3:15 am, when three men in a car crossed them. The men, she said, pulled her friend inside the car, pushed her as she tried to save her and drove off," HT quoted a senior police officer.

The victim's friend noted the car's registration number and immediately called a PCR to report the incident to police.

Taking spontaneous action on the lead of registration number provided to them, the police teams traced the car's owner to Geeta Colony.
