Congress president Sonia Gandhi likely to decide the face of the chief minister in the Union Territory of Puducherry on 20 May.
Party general secretary, V Narayanasamy said, "the final decision on the face of the Congress Legislative Party in Puducherry would be taken by the party president."
The Congress, which was defeated in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, ousted the ruling AINRC in Puducherry after winning 17 of the 30-seat Assembly - in collaboration with the DMK. The Congress won 15 seats and the DMK secured two in the assembly polls.
Political galleries are abuzz over the face of the chief minister candidate in the Union Territory. However, there are reports that A Namassivayam and former CM V Vaithilingam are front-runners for the post.
