Chowkidar Chor Hai Jibe: Rahul Gandhi tenders ‘unconditional’ apology for misquoting SC
Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday tenders his unconditional apology to the Supreme Court in a contempt of court case for attributing 'Chowkidar chor hai' jibe to the top court.
In an uncoditional apology, Gandhi said that he had 'unintentionally and inadvertently' linked Supreme Court's Rafale case order to his "Chowkidar chor hai" phrase against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has filed a three page affidavit stating his unconditional apology to Supreme Court.

In an affidavit earlier submitted by Rahul Gandhi had expressed regret which was then argued by BJP in the court.
Following which, the bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi dismissed Congress president's previous affidavit that had expressed 'regret', on the matter.
"The Deponent unconditionally apologises for the wrongful attributions to this Hon’ble Court. The Deponent further states that any such attributions were entirely unintentional, non-willful and inadvertent," stated Rahul's new affidavit.
The top court had also pulled up Rahul Gandhi while hearing the contempt proceedings against him over his remark, saying the Congress president was trying to justify the comment that the court never made.
The bench told Singhvi, "Any person can make a mistake, but having made it, you should go ahead and admit it...and what is this regret written inside the brackets? You are also contradicting yourself in this affidavit...honestly, we don't understand what your 28-page affidavit is trying to convey. Does it take 28 pages to apologise?"
