Chhattisgarh: Breaking News! Six policemen killed, 2 injured in landmine blast by Maoists in Dantewada

In an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast six security personnel were killed, when their vehicle was passing through Cholnar village, in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district. Among five security personnel, three jawans of Chhattisgarh Armed Force & 2 jawans of District Force killed.

Two jawans were also left injured in an IED blast in Dantewada's Cholnar Village.

"The deafening blast near Cholnar targeted a jeep in which seven security personnel were patrolling a remote area," said Vivekanand Sinha, Inspector General of Police.

6 jawans dead, 1 injured according to a preliminary investigation. The search operation is being held by security forces. The blast could be of high intensity, but the exact details will come after the investigation, says Sunder Raj P, DIG Anti-Naxal Operation on Dantewada attack.

Earlier it was reported five personnel were killed, but later further reports claimed, that the death toll in the IED blast on a police vehicle in Dantewada's Cholnar Village rises, total 6 jawans killed in the blast.

Five among the six died instantly, Mr Sinha told news agencies. Reports suggest the blast took place when the security forces were engaged in search operations. The Maoists also snatched five automatic rifles, say police sources.

As per reports, more personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been sent to the spot. The security personnel who are seriously injured have been airlifted to a hospital in Raipur, the state capital.
