Chhattisgarh: At least 5 Naxals killed in encounter in Narayanpur district

In a major crackdown, at least five Naxals were killed in a police encounter in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district late last night. The police also seized arms from their possession.

Following the encounter, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Meena today said, "In yet another successful operation, in Tuspal and Becha Kilam jungles of Abujmarh, Narayanpur District Reserve Group (DRG) decimated Military Company No 6 of the CPI(Maoists), killing at least half a dozen Naxals. However, we could recover only five bodies of Maoists and five weapons"

The operation was conducted jointly by the Narayanpur police led by Meena and Kondagaon police led by SP Santosh Singh.

The police seized three rifles of 12 bore, one rifle of 315 bore and articles of daily use from the spot.

So far, bodies of 15 Maoists of their Military formations have been recovered by the Bastar Police in this month as part of the ongoing 'Mission 2016 Bastar'.
