Remember the brutal rape and murder case of a minor 7-year-old girl who was brutally raped by her 23-year-old techie neighbour in February last year and was mercilessly set on fire. Pronouncing the verdict on the Chennai's heinous rape case, Madras High Court ruled 'the convict will hang'. The accused had also allegedly killed his mother after being let off on bail on a petition by his father.

According to the report, the accused S Dashwanth reported lured the girl to his apartment saying that he will allow her to play with his puppy. After which he raped the child and suffocated her to death. After committing these heinous act, the man stuffed her body in a bag and set it on fire on a highway.

The local court in February awarded him a death sentence in February last year. Later he challenged the verdict in Madras High Court. This case had drawn public outrage, as it was challenging as there was no witness and investigators had to depend on circumstantial evidence.

In December last year, the accused Dashwanth allegedly killed his mother S Sarala after he got out on bail by his father. Investigators said he killed her, stole her jewellery and fled to Mumbai. He was caught again in Mumbai though he was able to trick the Chennai police and escape. He was arrested a day later. A separate murder case of the mother is pending against him.
