Shanti Niketan: CBI raids VC office in Visvabharti University campus over corruption charges
On 24 May, CBI carried out a raid at the Vice Chancellor's office of the prestigious Visva Bharati University in Shantiniketan in connection to the corruption charges and alleged irregularities committed by a former Vice-Chancellor, Sushanta Dattagupta.
According to a report in PTI, a search started at seven places, including his residence, this morning after the CBI registered a case on a reference received from the Central government in this regard.
The report added, it is being alleged that UGC guidelines were not followed while appointing Dattagupta as the Vice Chancellor.
This comes months after President Pranab Mukherjee sacked Sushanta Dattagupta after an HRD probe team found him guilty of financial and administrative irregularities.
