CBI arrested its own officer in connection with Rs 126 crore Yamuna Expressway land scam

Once again CBI controversy erupted after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested its own officer and a revenue official on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad in connection with the Rs 126 crore Yamuna Expressway land scam, officials said.

The CBI had arrested the V S Rathore, an inspector in the anti-corruption branch in Ghaziabad; Sunil Dutt, the ASI of CBI Academy Ghaziabad; and tehsildar Ranveer Singh over the scam on Saturday, they said.


As per the reports of the news agency PTI, ‘Inspector Rathore and tehsildar Ranveer Singh have been arrested in connection with the case,’ the CBI official said.

The agency has also booked some other unknown officials of the UP Police and some other unidentified persons, who are involved in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) land fraud case.

They all are accused of a ‘criminal conspiracy for obtaining an undue advantage by the public servants for a dishonest performance of duty, an undue advantage to influence public servant by corrupt or illegal means and bribing of public servants.’

They all have booked under the Indian Penal Code section 120B (party to a criminal conspiracy), and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
