BSF inspector shot dead by a jawan in Kerala

A BSF officer on election duty was shot dead by a jawan near Vadakara in Kozikhode on 12 May.

Inspector Ram Gopal Meena, 45, from Rajasthan was allegedly shot by a BSF hawaldar, Umesh Prasad Singh.

According to police, the incident occurred at the BSF camp at Kottakkal Islamic Academy school late on 12 May.

The accused, Umesh Prashad Singh, allegedly shot as many as six bullets at Meena and escaped from the camp after shooting.

Meena was rushed to the Vadakara hospital where he succumbed to injuries, the Times of India reported.

The police are currently on the lookout for Umesh Prasad Singh. The TOI quoted the police as saying that they are also investigating the reason behind the killing.

According to reports, a special investigating team has been formed to investigate the death.
