Recently, Kejriwal apologized to Majithia, Gadkari and Sibal and settled the cases. All of them had filed defamation cases against Kejriwal. In order to settle the cases, Kejriwal said in the court that the allegation he had made against them were political ones and he withdrew those allegations.

But these cases are not all, there are other several cases against him in which he has to apologize or withdraw the statement in order to avoid legal troubles. According to a report, Kejriwal has been facing 20-odd civil and criminal defamation cases in different courts in Delhi, Varansi, Amethi, Punjab, Guwahati, Mumbai and Goa. These cases require personal appearances.

Here are some of the highlighted defamation cases that are yet to be settled;

  1. One of the defamation cases that remained in limelight and created a lot of media uproar is the case of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Jaitely had filed defamation cases against Kejriwal and APP leaders Raghav Chadha, Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh and Depak Bajpai when they accused of irregularities in Delhi District Cricket Association when Jaitley was heading the association. The case of Rs 10-crore defamation suit was filed in Delhi High Court and lower court. Ram Jethmalani was the counsel for Kejriwal in this defamation case. In the same case, another defamation case was filed when Jethmalani made a defamatory remark during the trial.

  3. Another BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri had also filed a defamation case. He alleged that Kejriwal had falsely claimed in a television interview that Bidhuri was not being arrested despite there were serious cases against him. In 2016, a court granted exemption from personal appearance to the Kejriwal in the case.
  4. BJP youth leader Ankit Bhardwaj, who is a state executive member of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morch (BJYM) also had filed a criminal defamation petition against Kejriwal and AAP spokeperson Sanjay Singh. He claimed that he was wrongly shown as the person who had attacked  former minister and AAP leader Kapil Mishra.
  5. Ex-political secretary to Sheila Dikshit, Pawan Khera had filed defamation case against Kejriwal. It was the first defamation case against Kejriwal. The case was filed for alleged ‘derogatory remarks’ in connection with the increase in power tariffs. Khera had also sent a legal notice to Kejriwal and asked him to withdraw the remarks he had made.
