A journalist from a leading Hindi newspaper, Dainik Bhaskar, was shot dead by unidentified assailants on 12 November in Bihar's Rohtas district.

The journalist - identified as Dharmendra Singh - was reportedly at a tea-stall when three men opened fire on him in the wee hours of Saturday.

He was immediately rushed to the local hospital where he received initial aid but had to be transferred to a hospital in Varanasi for further treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital in Varanasi.

No arrests have been made so far. The police have registered a case and efforts are on to nab the accused.

This is the second journalist to be murdered in Bihar in recent months. In May, Rajdeo Ranjan, a senior journalist of Hindi daily Hindustan was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Siwan district. The Central Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the case.
