2017 Punjab Polls: Comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi joins AAP

Punjabi comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

He joined the AAP in the presence of senior leader Sanjay Singh, who is the in-charge of the party's Punjab affairs, and popular Punjabi comedian and Sangrur Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann.

The induction of Ghuggi, who hails from Gurdaspur, will boost the AAP's confidence in Punjab prior to the 2017 assembly polls. Ghuggi is the second Punjabi actor to join the party after Mann.

Watch Gurpreet Ghuggi in Gangs of Hasseepur, a 2014 comedy show he was a part of.

Twitter had a little fun of its own after the announcement by AAP, wondering how the party, which has been aggressively preparing for the upcoming 2017 Assembly elections in Punjab, attracts comedians.
