Patiala House Court on 17 December sent ex-Indian Air Force chief SP Tyagi to 14-day judicial custody in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam. Along with Tyagi, two other accused were also sent to judicial custody.

71-year old Tyagi, his cousin Sanjeev alias Julie and advocate Gautam Khaitan were produced before the court.

Tyagi and the others were arrested on 9 December for their involvement in the chopper scam.

The court on 10 December sent the three accused to 4-day CBI custody.

Following which, Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar extended the custody till 17 December, along with Sanjeev and Khaitan - involved in Rs 450 crore chopper deal bribery case.

When Tyagi was Air Chief Marshal, he "abused his official position," said the CBI. He reportedly made huge investments in land and other properties and had not disclosed the source his income.

The CBI earlier also alleged that Khaitan was the mastermind behind how the money travelled into India through several firms and Sanjeev knew the alleged middleman Carlo Gerosa.
