On 23 May, Congress supporters in Uttar Pradesh protested against Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor for his recent remarks. In a series of tweets, the veteran actor had questioned why roads and landmarks in the country were named after the Gandhi family.
According to a dna report, Congress workers have named a toilet in Allahabad's Shivaji park after Rishi Kapoor.
Party workers slammed Rishi Kapoor's comments and said that the country has prospered after Independence because of the efforts of the Gandhi family. The workers said that naming assets of the nation after the Gandhis was justified in view of their immense contribution to the nation.
On 17 May, Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter to lash out at the Gandhi family. He registered a strong protest and demanded that freedom fighters and film stars be treated with the same respect.
