Swamy ran a campaign against Rajan, demanding that he be removed from the post of the chief of the Reserve Bank of India. Swamy had accused the RBI chief of an attempting to "wreck the Indian economy."
"Send Rajan back to Chicago if you want to see India's economic growth at 10%," Swamy told Business Standard.
In response, Rajan announced that he would not seek a second term as the RBI governor. "I want to share with you that I will be returning to academia when my term as Governor ends on 4 September, 2016," Rajan said in a press release.
