Walking on CM Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government footprint, now Yogi Adityanath government issues an order to ban the use of plastic in Uttar Pradesh. The law will be effective from July 15 onwards. “We have decided to implement a complete ban on plastic in the state from July 15. I seek the support of you all in this effort. I urge everyone to stop the use of plastic cup, glass and polythene after July 15,” CM Adityanath said today.

Maharashtra government on March 23 had announced the complete ban on manufacture, use, sale, storage and distribution of plastic and plastic materials and Thermocol products in the state. The government also imposed penalty between Rs 5000 to 25000 and 3 years of jail or both. The government had given three months time to dispose of the existing stocks, which ended on June 23.

According to ANI reports, BMC has recovered near about 1500 kg plastic. Within three days, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) collected Rs 2.95 lakh fine for violation of the plastic ban.

The plastic manufacturing industry said that the plastic ban will result in a loss of up to Rs 15,000 crore and nearly 3 lakh jobs.
