3 cops suspended for not informing seniors about FIR against IPS officer

Three policemen were on 10 October suspended and one senior officer was removed from duty in Jaipur for not informing superiors about an FIR registered against a senior IPS officer.

The FIR against Additional DG (Law and Order) N R K Reddy was registered in July this year with Vaishali Nagar police station after a court order on a "Istgasa" (complaint) by a man whose daughter-in-law had committed suicide.

Senior officials, including Reddy, were not informed about the FIR. When the matter came to light, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajendra Singh was removed and put under 'Awaiting Posting Orders' status while the Vaishali Nagar station house officer Pramendra Kumar and sub-inspectors Suresh Chand and Bhuri Singh were suspended on 10 October.

"The FIR was registered but the police station's officers did not communicate the matter to senior authorities. The matter came to light recently and the police headquarters took action against the officers responsible, for their negligence," DCP West Ashok Gupta said.

In the FIR, the complainant had alleged that the officer Reddy was known to the parents of his daughter-in-law who committed suicide in 2015. After the suicide, a case of dowry death was registered against his son Sunil and wife Vijya Devi, who were subsequently arrested.

He filed an FIR against the officer, accusing him and others of preparing false evidences in the case.
