20-year-old shot dead in Aligarh
A youth was shot dead by bike-borne assailants at Jamalpur locality on Anoopshahar Road here, police said Wednesday.
The deceased Shavez (21) was shot on Tuesday night. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead, they said. After shooting the victim several times, the assailants tried to scare the onlookers with shots in the air, officials said.
According to the police, the shooting, which was witnessed by a large number of bystanders, was connected with a long-standing gang feud between two splinters groups of the original Muneer gang.
Muneer is presently in jail in connection with the murder of NIA officer Tanzeel Ahmad. SP city Atul Srivastva said camera footage was being examined to identify the assailants.
The victim's family has named Zubair, an active member of Muneer gang, behind the incident, they said.
