The Punjab Police today recovered Rs 1 crore cash (in Rs 500/1000 denominations) from a vehicle in Sardulgarh area of Punjab's Mansa district.
The money was recovered from a commission agent named Sandeep travelling in a Fortuner numbered HR 22K 1121.
Jagtar Singh, SHO, Sardulgarh Police Station, said that they formed a special cell to carry out the search operation. He also informed that the money has been handed over to the Income Tax Department.
Prime Minister Modi on 8 November announced that the government had decided to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes to tackle the menace of black money.
