In a startling revelation, it has emerged that the Khurja police in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr allegedly paid Rs 1 lakh to a man whose father had died in police custody.

According to a Pradesh18 report, the deceased's son Manoj has alleged that the Khurja police gave him Rs 1 lakh with the help of the Gram Pradhan.

The Khurja police allegedly paid the amount after a man - accused by a man named Omprakash of sexually assaulting his daughter - died in custody.

The police also went on to register a complaint against the girl's father, accusing him of provoking the victim to commit suicide.

Case highlights

The police inspector accused of initiating the deal allegedly revealed the agreement to the deceased inmate's son in a video.

The police falsely accused Omprakash of provoking the inmate into committing suicide.

The police pressurised the son to carry out his father's funeral as soon as the post-mortem was conducted.
