UP elections: Tension brewing in Samajwadi Party over Amar Singh's ticket

Tension is escalating within the Samajwadi Party after rumours flew thick and fast that party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav may just give a ticket to former SP leader, Amar Singh.

According to party sources, Mulayam's opinion has left Azam Khan and his supporters rather annoyed.

Speaking to Catch on condition of anonymity, a former SP Cabinet minister said, "Azam Khan has always opposed giving Amar Singh a party ticket, and he raised a similar objection in the party meeting as well."

"Azam was the first party leader to criticise this decision about ticket distribution," he added.

According to party sources, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav was also present at the meeting but was seen taking a backseat during the discussion.
