In a bid to woo voters in the state, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav plans to set out on a 'Samajwadi Rath Yatra' across the state.

The 'chariot ride', which he will undertake in a special van, willallow him to woo voters by highlighting the achievements of the Samajwadi government in all parts of the state.

Assembly elections are due in the state early next year.

According to a Pradesh18 report, the whole programme is being chalked out by a young team of party leaders that is coordinating with the chief minister's secretariat for dates and other logistical support, including security.

A meeting of the party's youth wing had also been organised on 13 and 14 July, which also focused on focusing on the booth level politics. The route of the 'Samajwadi Rath Yatra' will also be finalised soon.

Akhilesh had also held a state-wide 'rath yatra' ahead of 2012 assembly polls in which his party had won a clear majority.
