NRHM scam: Ex-UP minister Babulal Kushwaha submits Rs 31.5 lakh to CBI court

Senior Bahujan Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister for Health and Family, Babu Singh Kushwaha, accused in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam, submitted Rs 31.5 lakh to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on 7 May.

At the time of his bail, Kushwaha was instructed by the court to submit an amount of Rs 50 lakh each in four cases.

Kushwaha has submitted Rs 65 lakh of the aforesaid amount and has sought time from the court to submit the remaining amount. The court has given him time till 10 May to submit the remaining amount.

Four accused in the NRHM scam were granted bail by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad on 28 April after furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000 each.

The court has asked the four to submit the bail bond within four weeks.

BN Srivastava and PK Jain, Project Manager and Chief Engineer respectively of Construction and Design Services (CNDS), the commercial wing of the UP Jal Nigam; Naresh Grover; and UP State Information Commission clerk Arun Kumar Dixit were in jail for the past three years.
